I FIND IT DIFFICULT TO LOVE

September 16, 2010

The one to whom little is forgiven, loves little. (Luke 7: 47)

Lord Jesus, I admit that I find some people in my life simply difficult to like, or even love.  When I feel this way, remind me how You unconditionally loved the unlovable… which includes me. Amen

I STAND IN THE GAP

September 13, 2010

A centurion had a slave who was ill… When he heard about Jesus, he sent elders… asking Jesus to come and save the life of his slave. (Luke 7: 2-3)

Lord, today I stand in between you and a friend who is sick (mention the name of the person). I know I am not worthy to intercede in his behalf, but I nonetheless humbly lift my voice to You, believing that You have come to bring mercy to the unworthy and wholeness to the sick. I pray for just one utterance of healing for my friend, O Lord; that will be enough to make him whole again. This I believe and pray in Your healing name. Amen.

Christ In Deed

September 7, 2010

“But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.” (Luke 11: 28)

Lord, I am tired of being just a Christian in name. Change me; from hereon, I also want to be a Christian in deed. Amen.

BE GREATER THAN MY SINS

September 2, 2010

“Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” (Luke 5:8)

Jesus, my mind says, “Depart from me, for I am most unworthy to be before You,” but my heart says, “Stay, Lord, for apart from You I am nothing.” Lord, my heart’s cry is overwhelming: Let Your great mercy wash away my unworthiness, and Your love cover the multitude of my sins. Amen.

WHEN I WANT A REVENGE

June 15, 2010

Dear friends, don’t try to get even. Let God take revenge. In the Scriptures the Lord says, “I am the one to take revenge and pay them back.” (Romans 12: 19)

Lord, when I feel like getting even with people who caused me pain, put a “no trespassing” sign in front of me to remind me that vindication is Yours alone. Amen.

PRAYER OF PROTECTION

June 7, 2010

May God who never slumbers watch over you. May He stand beside you as your protective shade, and never let you stumble. May the Lord keep you from all evil, and keep your life. May He keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore. Amen.

(Adapted from Psalm 121: 3-8)

My soul will praise the Lord, my spirit will be filled with joy, for my God has favored me.

From hereon, all people shall say: “You are blessed!” … because the Almighty has done great things for me, shown me mercy, lifted me up in my lowliness, filled me with good things, and remembered His promise of mercy to me! Alleluia!

(Prayer adapted from the Blessed Mother’s Magnificat in Luke 1: 45-55)

FREE ME FROM SIN

May 27, 2010

I urge you… to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against the soul. (1 Peter 2:11)

Jesus, in Your mighty name, I bind the stronghold of sin that may have entered my family life. I believe that You will also overturn the sinful patterns that other people in my family lineage have created. I declare this in prayer of deliverance, in Your powerful name, O Jesus. Amen.

I FORGIVE

May 21, 2010

It was not Roman practice to hand over an accused person before he has faced his accusers and had the opportunity to defend himself against their charge. (Acts 25: 16)

Those people who judged me without seeking to understand me… I forgive them, Lord. And, for making rash judgments on others without seeking to understand them, forgive me, Lord.  Amen.
