I AM OVERWHELMED WITH MY TASKS

September 16, 2009

Gracious and merciful is the LORD. He has given food to those who fear him; he will forever be mindful of his covenant.(Psalm 111: 4-5)

Father, I lay at Your feet the overwhelming tasks that are set before me.  I will do whatever is humanly possible to accomplish them, but will entrust all else to You.  I believe that if I leave things under Your control, nothing will ever be out of control.   And so I make this prayer of faith and thanksgiving through  Jesus, my forever faithful God. Amen.

But all they gave God was lip service;  they lied to him with their tongues.  Their hearts were not loyal to him.  They did not keep his covenant.  Yet he was merciful and forgave their sins and did not destroy them all.  Many times he held back his anger and did not unleash his fury! (Psalm 78: 36-38)

Lord, today is one of those days when whatever prayer I make enters my mind but does not go down to my heart. Every word just bounces back to me and nothing seems to make real sense. Yet, I make a resolve to persevere in prayer and trust in Your great mercy… because I know Your mercy can melt the hardest of hearts.   Start with mine, Lord. Amen.

I WILL STOP COMPARING

September 11, 2009

How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove that splinter in your eye,’ when you do not even notice the wooden beam in your own eye? (Luke 6 : 42)

Lord, I have been focusing on what everyone else has, not noticing that I’m already missing out on what You have blessed me with. Today, instead of comparing, I make a decision to appreciate and improve on the areas of my life in which I want to see change. I am dedicating this decision to You, Lord. Let my life flourish beyond anything I could have ever hoped or imagined. This is my prayer in Jesus’ name. Amen.

I AM IN NEED

August 10, 2009

God is able to make every grace abundant for you, so that in all things, always having all you need, you may have an abundance for every good work. (2 Cor. 9:8)

Lord, I am in dire need at the moment.  But You know exactly what I lack, and are faithful in keeping Your promises.  So, now, I speak to my every need and say: My God will generously provide for me; and I will always have everything I need and plenty left over to share with others.

I claim Your promises to be already fulfilled in my life, even now as I pray, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE

August 3, 2009

Jesus said to (His disciples), “There is no need for the crowds to go away; give them some food yourselves.” But they said to him, “Five loaves and two fish are all we have here.” Then he said, “Bring them here to me.” (Matthew 14: 16-18)

Lord, when I feel  things won’t be enough today, be my more-than-enough God. When I fear things to be impossible today, be my all-things-are-possible God. Amen.

I WILL WIN MY BATTLES!

July 20, 2009

Moses answered the people, “Fear not! Stand your ground, and you will see the victory the LORD will win for you today… The LORD himself will fight for you; you have only to keep still.” (Exodus 14: 15)

Lord, I declare in faith that I will win the battles of life today — not because of who I am, but because of WHOSE I am. Amen and amen!

Those who seek the Lord want for no good thing. (Psalm 34: 10)

Lord, today I boldly declare with the confidence of the Psalmist:  Because I seek You, I will lack for no good thing. Because You are a shepherd to me, I shall not want. Amen.

The angels urged Lot on, saying, “On your way… or you will be swept away in the punishment of the city.” When he hesitated, the men, by the LORD’S mercy, seized his hand and the hands of his wife and his two daughters and led them to safety outside the city. (Genesis 19: 15-16)

Lord, when my tendency to have things my way gets the better of me, have mercy on me; enter my being and take over my will. I give You complete permission to have things Your way in my life, O Lord.  Amen.

My God, because You are with me, I boldly declare that nothing will prevail over me.

I may experience trouble, but I will never be crushed;

I may be perplexed, but I will not be driven to despair;

Life may knock me down, but I will rise up again…

Only by Your power working in me, Lord. Only by Your power.

Amen.

(Adapted from 2 Cor. 4: 8-9)

All goes well for those… who conduct their affairs with justice. They shall never be shaken… their hearts are steadfast, trusting the LORD.(Psalm 112: 5-7)

I say to myself at the start of this day: “Greater things are in store for me today. The best is yet to come because I have a God who is eternally good.” I confess this in faith in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
